Chuck Wright began raiding his parent’s sizable library while being frequently bedridden with bouts of childhood asthma. There being very little else to do given the dismal state of daytime television during the 1960’s. Fortunately for him his mother had been an aspiring librarian during her high school days and had accumulated a respectable library of assorted fiction and history books. This made English his favorite subject and one of the very few areas in school other than girls in which he was able to excel. Much to his surprise he was awarded his high school diploma and then spent a miserable following year pretending to study engineering at Indiana University – Purdue University in Indianapolis. It being a sort of hybrid school for wanna be nerds.
To his good fortune he was rescued from the fate of becoming a pocket protector wearing ultimate nerd by the draft in 1972. Times being what they were he accepted the kind invitation sent to him by his Uncle Sam. He then spent the following 22 wonderful years in the U.S. Air Force performing various duties. A few of which might have contributed to national security but not always being sure this was so given some of the silly things he was ordered to do. This included learning how to shove cargo onto various aircraft and after gaining his commission as an officer and a gentleman going on to work on several defense weapons programs. His stint in the Air Force included three years hard labor in the Pentagon where he was able to study the Washington swamp so closely that he swore never to return to the town should he be able to make good his escape.
Along the way he was married and had one wonderful son. Now a single dad he managed to convince the Air Force to let him go home and raise his son and pursue a career in the civilian world. After spending twenty years working in IT project management he became convinced that civilian society had solved the problem of where to warehouse mentally deranged persons by placing them as mangers in civilian industry. It was time for him to retire again and pursue his long held dream of becoming a professional story teller.
Chuck has one grown son who is an Army combat veteran. Chuck lives with a rescued lab named Molly and a rescued spoiled rotten cat named Lager. He is now hard at work producing his novels.
